“Language is a source of misunderstanding”
I believe that language is a vital part of our lives. It enables us to communicate with each other. However, if language is not properly used it can be a source of misunderstanding. Since people have different interpretation on the language used.
Does the users/audience’s own background or experience affect the interpretation of messages? How?
Yes, it affects the interpretation of messages. It affects the message in a way that the receiver relates it to his experiences or prior knowledge. Since people act depending his/her belief or background, the interpretation of the messages is affected.

Questions
Answer
Predict how this event will be covered by television, radio, print and internet today

In television, I think it will be probably shown by news segments wherein the reporters will interview the people involved (including the politician and its supporters and protesters)

In radio, the audio of the interviews of both parties will be broadcasted.

In print, interviews and statements of parties. There will also fanatics that will make brochures to prove or disprove statements of the opposing party

In internet, there will be surely rants and arguments all over the internet and comment sections.
How are the presentation of facts may vary from medium to medium?

Presentation of facts may vary from medium to medium in a way that each medium can affect the interpretation of the listeners or viewers to the messages being conveyed. To be able to convey the message, facial expressions, sounds and actions are important. If one medium will only use one of these elements the presentation of facts will be affected based on the  interpretation of the people.
How are codes and conventions vary from medium to medium?

Code conventions vary from medium to medium because each medium has different styles in portraying the topic. In print media or in internet they can use adding pictures, colors and fonts that could add more emphasis on the topic. However, in broadcast they cannot do it especially that a radio cannot flash images.
How much these differences will be based on the unique characteristics of the medium?

The differences will surely affect a big role on the part of the receiver. Since each medium has different styles, it will differently affect the interpretation of the people to the message.

●If you will be a reporter, are you going to use the conventional way of how each media will broadcast given scenario?
Yes, but I will add some interesting way of reporting it so that people will not get bored to it. Also it is the way how people better understand the news.

●What will you do to not make your report boring. Elaborate your answer.
Just like what I have said will add some interesting factor on the way how I will present the news. Maybe I could give a joke or trivia so that I will be able to grabe people's attention.

●Would you exaggerate some elements in your report to make it interesting. Why?
No, because I hate fake news. Exaggerating some elements could distort facts I want to present that will create fake news.

Ms. Elizabeth L. Marasigan is a member of the Manila Science High School’s Senior High School Faculty, SHS Chemistry teacher, and the SHS curriculum chair
Interviewers: “What is your role in the school community?”
Ma’am Marasigan: “I am a senior high school chemistry teacher, and at the same time, the current senior high school vocal person, or the curriculum chair. (Sa inyong lahat, nanay 'di ba?)”
Interviewers: “What type of information are you responsible for? And what information do you receive and pass on to the school community?”
Ma’am Marasigan: “Most of the time 'yung mga communication from the division office pertaining to the activities of the Senior High School at the same time 'yung mga communication (information) from other schools. If there are invitations for a seminar or a contest. And invitation also. Halimbawa 'yung marketing purposes. Halimbawa they want to market their shool. They are inviting our graduating students and enroll in their schools. And then in internal of course communication coming from the principal if there are any mandates of things that has to be done. So sa akin muna 'yun and I disseminate to the subject group heads. If there is a professional meeting. During meetings dini-disseminate din 'yung information na 'yun.”
Interviewers: “How is the type of information that you handle helpful to the school community? In what ways does passing on this information help the school community?”
Ma’am Marasigan: “Of course it is very important na you immediately disseminate this information especially 'yung ngayon. Your classes will be suspended at 12 noon. So kung hindi agad madi-disseminate agad 'yung information na 'yun, ang daming maapektuhan. Let's say 'yung inyong mga sundo. They will be coming in late kung hindi agad na-disseminate. So importante talaga na kung ano ang natatanggap namin in-inform agad 'yung mga concerned persons. Another example halimbawa if there's an upcoming quiz bee, so at least students are prepared before they get into that contest at the same time preparations din para sa mga teachers.”
Interviewers: “How do you know that the information you pass on is true?”
Ma’am Marasigan: “Normally naman, the office is the one that screens all this information. And at the same time, ang info naman kapag wala ang principal natin, she will constantly text me, so talagang ang pagpasa ng information, hindi yung may dadaanan pang ibang tao. It’s always coming from the source directly, and if it is coming from the source, or from other schools, there is always yung letter, may sulat palagi. Kung sa Division office naman of course it is signed by the superintendent, or whoever the info came from. “
Interviewers: “Are these pieces of information available in popular media?”
Ma’am Marasigan: “Sa activities ng Senior High School, wala. Ang information natin is always coming from the division office, wala nang ibang pinanggagalingan. Anyway, the mandate of course will come from DepEd diba? If there are any information coming from the popular media, most of the time, it is the suspension of classes. Halimbawa yung transport strike, dapat magkakaroon ng suspension pero inatras, so wala nang ganoon. And then, most of the time kapag may bagyo, mas nauuna niyong nalalaman diba either in facebook or in twitter bago ma-idisseminate sa inyo. Parang kapag nalaman niyo, it’s only validation, that the news from this popular media is true and legit. “
Interviewers: “Thank you Ma’am!”

Ma’am Marasigan: “You’re welcome!”

1. How do people find information that matches my needs?
People can find information that will match my needs if the information needed is general. Also, people can find information that will match my needs when they ask for it. They can seek for it through one on one interview, or through searching the Internet.
2. How do I choose from the wide variety of information made available by different sources?

I choose what is closer to reality and more trustworthy. I check the source of information if it reliable, then I'll choose it

Synthesis
1. New technologies have led to the convergence of traditional and new media since there are new information and new ways how to disseminate it.
2. Media convergence creates new opportunities of interaction in a way that even though people are far away from each other they can still communicate and interact. Example, before we were just having our lessons, and passing of assignments inside our classroom. But now we have online classroom. There are new opportunities being given by the media convergence.
3. Before in getting information we had newspapers only. Now that we are now living in an information age we have television, radio, social networking sites. We don't only use newspaper to gain information or news. News can now be disseminated through the use of Facebook pages and other social networking sites. There's always a convergence between the traditional and new media that provide opportunities to let people be informed.

 4. A person can be portrayed as knowledgeable and informed because of the information readily available now. We are now in an information age where media convergence exists. So, the information can be disseminated in many ways.
